The best thing you can do is buy the book "USB complete" (available from Amazon etc) because USB is very complicated. If your peripheral doesn't do everything the host expects then the host will just shut down your connection.
Whether you have to write your own Windows driver or not depends on whether you are building something which fits into the standard USB classes or not. HID and mass storage classes are worth looking at. |
