"Military Usage" - depends on whose military it is!!!! And it depends on whose mil-spec we're talking about. A quick google turned up some results that would answer your question - there was even a rad-hardened mil spec device for $8900 USD ea just in case you want to put one into space.
Can the 8051 be replaced by a FPGA - yes! There's a few companies offering 8051 ip (intellectual property) or design it yourself. Can the 8051 be replaced by a DSP? Yes, you could have the DSP execute a simulator. Would it be worthwhile? Probably not. If the source code was in 'c', it would be easier compiling the 'c' code for the target DSP. |
