... which is - in a crude way - similar to the "try...catch"...

I also think that there is a case when a jumpout from a called subroutine is justified: when such an exception occurs, which requires some operator intervention and results in some form of restart anyway. For example, if a checksum on critical parts of RAM fails, or contradictory inputs from sensors occur (indicating hardware failure and requiring immediate shutdown)...
