I know what I want my program to do, but I just forget the instruction which will do what I want. I had the same problem with remembering spanish vocabulary.

That's why dictionaries are around...

Absolutely!

When people say you need to read the "bible", that most certainly does not mean that you are supposed to learn it by heart!

There is very little point in even trying to comit the entire "bible" to memory; rather, you need to use it as a Reference - each time you want an instruction, go to Chapter 2 and look it up:

Chapter 2 - 80C51 Family Programmer's Guide and Instruction Set:
http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/acrobat/v...UIDE_1.pdf

There is a summary of all the instructions on pages 14-16.

Similarly for other issues in the other chapters:

Chapter 1 - 80C51 Family Architecture:
http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/acrobat/v...ARCH_1.pdf

Chapter 3 - 80C51 Family Hardware Description:
http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/acrobat/v...WARE_1.pdf

And remember - they're PDF documents, so you can use the reader's Search facility to quickly find relevant details...

Similarly for the Datasheet for your particular device: you should expect to be referring to it continually; don't try to memorise it!
By the end of your project, you should expect to have a very dog-eared copy of the Datasheet - probably with lots of notes scribbled on it, and little "Post-It" notes sticking out to mark key pages.
