#105197 - chip list with "known bugs"
Just an idea: I have already brought up an idea of more prefect chiplist. I know that Craig added an "editable comment" to the existing chiplist, but it is somehow not too "visible" when browsing it...

I also know that to make it similar to http://www.caxapa.ru/mcudb/index.html?p=4 and/or better, would mean a lot of work with questionable output value. However, let me live in my dreams a little bit longer...

If there would be such a chiplist, I would like to have a user editable column in it, containing "known problems". This idea came from the "T2 clockout mode missing in P89C51RD2" issue. Although of minor importance, this might be good to know when searching for a suitable derivative.

Some might admit that the manufacturer maintain erratas. This is a perfect example of what IS a deviation from the 8052 standard and will probably not in erratas - it is simply missing from the datasheet.

Also there are bugs which are discovered by the users but the manufacturer does not care to publish erratas or is too slow in doing so (e.g. the case of uPSD3212 I described here recently). The manufacturer might also often treat certain surprising and/or nonstandard behaviour as a feature rather than bug (e.g. Erik often reports that the SiLabs F3xx series has more such "features"). There are also issues with manufacturer removing erratas for older steppings of the chips from their websites, but the chips might still be on stock of the distributors - see the AT89S8253 case.

Just as an attempt of a sort of self-defense from us, the common users.
