I have used a yamaha YGV610B PC graphics IC interfaced to a Hitachi SH1 Rics CPU.
However this used an Altera 7032 EPLD to match the SH1 Buss to the PC style buss that the YGV610 expects. It is not too bad however there is a lot of work to do
in writing code to generate text on to the graphics display. I used an LCD VGA graphics panel with the graphics controller however the controller does have RGB outputs. I would be interested in knowing a bit more about your project.
