The polynomial x^16+x^15+x^2+1, CRC-16 by name, is a part of the IBM protocol of BSC (Binary Synchronous Communications).

The polynomial x^16+x^12+x^5+1, CCITT-16 by name, is recommended ITU-T V.41 as standard. I prefer it.
