Do you not understand that parity generation and checking is a calculation and not I/O?

No, I do not, please give me an example where parity is used for non-I/O purposes.

Better I/O parity code (whatever that is), nope, never asked for it -- you made that up all on your own.

And stated that I included the I/O because no I/O, no need for parity generation.

The '51 UART I/O subsystem does not have parity capability, so why bring up I/O at all in the context of a parity discussion on an 8051 forum? On a '51, parity has to combined with other bits by software, be that software in assembly, C, portable, or nonportable before I/O ever gets involved. What platform are you talking referring to when combining "parity" and "I/O"?

A PC's UART has parity capability built into it. But, as you are so fond of saying "the '51 ain't no PC." If you want to discuss parity or I/O for a PC or some other MCU that has I/O with parity capabilities, then start a thread in the "Chat Board" area.

your little thread-mixing rat hole.

what "thread-mixing"? both quotes in the thread is from this very thread.

Doesn't your browser show a hierarchy of nested subthreads?
