One suggestion: any "gimme code" rating will automatically lock the thread. if unfairly locked, the moderators can, at their convenience, unlock it. That sounds like a good idea. On the whole topic, I don't think copy & paste solutions should be banned but they should be tagged properly instead. E.q. "THIS CODE IS FOR ILLUSTRATIONS ONLY. IT MIGHT NOT COMPILE OR EVEN WORK!" Actually a sample code that doesn't compile involves a nice task in itself. Anyone who doesn't understand a code he did find on the net then he shouldn't use it at all. Ofcourse this approach won't stop ppl to ask for quick help. |
