#11636 - RE: Aborting Mode 0 Serial Port transfer |
Hi Peter, I understand your way of thinking. It is good sound engineering logic. However, let me try to explain why I wanted to abort TX and RX halfway: If it is indeed possible to stop transmission halfway, we can perform high-speed serial data transmission to 12 or 14 bit serial DACs. Likewise, EEPROMS like the 24Cxx and 93Cxx series could be written to and read from at high speed, with little software overhead. Anyway, I have tested different scenarios on a new Atmel 89C52 and a still working 1979 version of the Intel 87C51. It is not possible to stop transmission once it has started, so that throws a spanner in the wheel :( Regards Jesper |
