Sir I am not getting the concept at all THAT WHAT IS THE DIFFERNCE IN THE COMMON CATHODE AND COMMON ANODE THERE'S NO NEED TO SHOUT! Have a look to the following code for common anode ... where Forget about code for now; Common-Anode and Common-Cathode is to do with the physical wiring of the LEDs. You do understand what an LED is, and that it has an Anode and a Cathode (sometimes written "Kathode"), don't you? You need to understand how this works physically before you can even start to think about how to write programs to use it! As I said before, the difference would be immediately obvious if you obtained a datasheet for a Common-Anode display, and a datasheet for a Common-Cathode display, and compared the two. Anyhow, here is the schematic of a Common-Anode 7-Segment display: ![]() Look how all the Anodes are connected together - they are said to be Common because they share a single, Common connection! And here is is the schematic of a Common-Cathode 7-Segment display: ![]() Look how all the Cathodes are connected together - they are said to be Common because they share a single, Common connection!
