Avishek, Your concept regarding interrupts is correct. Firstly, I think you need to read up about the 8051 in order to understand your problem. Your problems are: (apart from no comments) You do not set up the uart (hint SCON register) You do not enable the interupts (hint IE register) You do not need to play around with EA in the interrupt routine As for the difference between edge & level triggering, again, a read of the information on the 8051 will explain it in more detail than I can.
