#120020 - what is the point then
Responding to: ???'s previous message
not to teach programming, nor '51 architecture

Is the point then to teach "open your mouth and fried pigeons will fly in through the window"

If you want to provide code as a FAQ answer, use pseudocode, that, at least, will force the grazer to think just a bit.

Jan, I hold your intentions honorable, that is not the issue, but is 'fighting your way through blinky' not one of the most valuable experiences for a beginner? All such, bypass the simple by copying, experiences will do is to get the beginner to where his feet can not reach the bottom before he has learned to swim.

Just visualize as an example: we provide a snippet for UART, a snippet for LCD a snippet for keyboard and someone uses these snippets by simple copying (does not even read the code) and is succesful. Will he then even be able to formulate the question for the first problem he will see after that.

Again, I hold your intentions honorable, but is 'bypassing the easy stuff' a path that will work for a beginner? ('will work' neaning getting, at least, an idea what a '51 does, not making a thingy work).

As far as 'testing the hardware for blinky' no code is required. Just hold the uC in reset and briefly short the LED pin to ground.

Erik
