Maybe people are very different but I really doubt that question was exactly about how to compare. If be pedant so yes -- formal question causes formal answer. So I think OP asks about how to do it with at least two facts: 1. "I've enough space in the RAM so as to copy the number stored in eeprom and then compare with the one already present". So the first question I see is about what is better: copy number from eeprom or read byte-by-byte. It is why I did ask about hardware. 2. "I'm coding in assembly language." So second question I see is about how it is better to do with ASM (which instructions should be used etc). It is why I asked about MCU, multiple DPTRs, data, idata, xdata. Well, you may say that it is not our work to find hidden questions and you are right. But once again: I doubt that people are so different. In Russia we know how to compare at 4 years old or less.
