#120198 - then I miss something
Responding to: ???'s previous message
hi,

Andy Neil said:
All he asked for was the logic of the comparison.

Maybe people are very different but I really doubt that question was exactly about how to compare.
If be pedant so yes -- formal question causes formal answer.
So I think OP asks about how to do it with at least two facts:
1. "I've enough space in the RAM so as to copy the number stored in eeprom and then compare with the one already present". So the first question I see is about what is better: copy number from eeprom or read byte-by-byte. It is why I did ask about hardware.
2. "I'm coding in assembly language." So second question I see is about how it is better to do with ASM (which instructions should be used etc). It is why I asked about MCU, multiple DPTRs, data, idata, xdata.

Well, you may say that it is not our work to find hidden questions and you are right. But once again: I doubt that people are so different. In Russia we know how to compare at 4 years old or less.

Regards,
Oleg
