#12340 - [isph] Connecting a MT8888C to a 8051
Hello.. I've looked at the Datasheet from Zarlink. (Mitel has turned into

Zarlink now...)

Anyway. I thought I had it all

figured out but I kind of hit a snag..

I just looked a the block diagram from

the MT8888C PDF File. It connected

A8-A15 by something ( I thought it

was a 8:1 Multiplexer ) to CS, and

A8 to RS0, but when I actually read

the Documentation there was something

about connecting the ALE output.

I then looked at the MSAN145 PDF File.

This NANDED the ALE output, and the

A8-A15. It agreed with what the

MT8888C documentation said, but I'm

not sure which is correct. Am I

thinking too hard..??? Oh, and

in the MT8888C documentation, there

is nothing about the IRQ/CP in the

block diagram, but there is something

about it in the documentation itself.

Also there is something in the MSAN145

block diagram.

And is that "something" actually

a Multiplexer?? If so, what are

the Selectors..???? There is nothing

in the documentation about this at all.

From what I've learned, To use a 8:1

Multiplexer you need 3 selectors...

Hmm....

Finally... In the MSAN145 Datasheet

After connecting D0-D3 to the MT8888

they connect something from D0-D3

to the RS0 Pin too.

In the MT8888 datasheet A8 is supposed

to go to RS0. Which is correct..??

Why is there so much ambiguity..??

From Confused..

Suhan Shim

Thank you..

PCE...
