87xx (and 87Cxx) are the EPROM versions and 89xx (and 89Cxx) are FLASH versions, typically.
One exception comes to mind ... and that's the 803x types. Those are the ROMless versions. They require external ROM of one sort or another. We should all try to be more specific, I guess. RE |
