However, if you can get the datasheet from the manufacturer's site (or other genuine manufacturer publications), always use that in preference to anything else you may happen to find anywhere else.

Even for "generic" chips, try to find the specific manufacturer's version of the datasheet for the particular chip you have in your hand...
