YES, YES, if the emergency may affect life and limb.

but the emergency I referred to was an emergency stop of an industrial knitting machine to activate when it screwed up. A 10 ms delay had no effect but 1000 more threads to fish out before restart. Pulling power would have made it MUCH worse.
