Before you can solve a problem you need to be able to understand what the problem actually is - and that should mean that you can give a complete and precise description.
You need to consider:

  • What did you expect to happen?
  • What actually happened?
  • What could account for the difference?

    I tried to typedef sfr as a unsigned char

    What made you think that this would help?
