Yes the 8243 was a "port expander" for the 8048-series. There's no equivalent circuit for the 805x-series though.
If one knows how, exactly, the I/O is expected to function, one might come up with a replacement. I still have a few 8748's in my stock, and still have the three or four 8243's I got together with my first 8748 back in '78. They were useful, I guess, but not for me. RE |
