#13625 - The problem with the Triscend E5 |
Folks,
Following our initial excitement with the E5 comes the sobering reality that this device is completely unsecure. There is no obvious mechanism to protect your IP ! Everything is in that damned external memory, the device has no onboard flash. All a competitor has to do is copy the boot ROM and he has ripped off not only your code but your hardware too. Very scary. The obvious step, an encryption engine, in the chip is missing. A cool part, a wonderful solution to many problems, but not when you wish/want/need to protect your intellectual property.
