In the classic 8051s, P2 will provide the upper address bits, whether you use them or not.
You could use P2 as a DIP switch input at other times, since the DIP switch would not be bothered by an occasional address appearing on P2. If you connect LEDs to the port, then the address output might be seen as a flicker, depending on how often the LCD was accessed. |
