Can you display anything on your LCD?
For starters, can you display a fixed text message such as, "Hello, World!"? Once you have fixed text working, move on to variable text. Once you have variable text working, move on to converting numbers into displayable text. There has been plenty of previous discussion on converting numbers into displayable text - use the 'Search' facility.
