In all electronic systems, it is usually desirable that inputs have high impedance order to minimise the load imposed on the source. In digital electronics, outputs can somethimes be set to high-impedance so that other devices can use the line - particularly in bus systems. This is sometimes also known as "Tri-State" (being a 3rd state in addition to the '1' and '0' states) Is that what you were after? |
