#141488 - Confused by AT89S8253 eeprom - terminology? |
Hi,
I'm hoping that someone who has had some experience with Atmel AT89S8253 eeprom programming & organisation can help. I have several questions, none of which seem to be clarified by any of the data sheets I can find, but here's the most fundamental... When I use my parallel programmer (Needhams EMP-11) I can't access the 2K byte eeprom (although I can access a 64 byte area called the User Row). So how on earth can I program it - or can I only do that programatically? Is the User Row part of the eeprom? Is it just my programmer that won't read the eeprom, or any programmer? If I set the lock bits does it also prevent the eeprom being read by a programmer as well as the rom? I'm trying to implement a time-limited device a la this thread http://www.8052.com/forumchat...ead=136035 but I don't really understand how to prevent someone just overwriting my count in a parallel programmer... Thanks in advance. Rob. |
