the positive voltage is on the TTL-compatible inputs to the level shifters, which are, after all, inverters, which fact I ignored.
I'm concerned about the information offered by the O/P, namely Currently the Tx output signals are HHHHH-DDDDD-HHHHHHH H = 8V L = 0; D = 8->0V / 0->8V Which clearly suggestts illegal levels for RS232. I wonder whether the O/P hasn't simply looked at the voltage swing and postulated the low level as GND. In any case, the information provided is incomplete, hence, one cannot derive any information from it beyond the obviously unreliable voltage information. RE |
