if you get the assignment you should (if you bothered attend classes) be qualified to do it yourself.

You may not be aware, but when I, as a teacher, have given assignments, it has been as much a check on my teaching as on the students knowledge. I hoipe that is true for all teachers.

let us take this one one step further with an assumption
1) the teacher has not managed to convey the necessary knowledge
2) all students cheat and get an 'A'
THEN the teacher has no idea the he did not convey to the students what he should.
WHEN the students go out in the world they have a certificate that states that they are qualified in areas where they are not. THEN I hire one based on that. THEN I find out he is totally unqualified. THEN I 'promote' him to janotor and give him a broom.
