You will have to investigate the display module data sheet and determine what controller chip is used on the module. Then in turn the controller data sheet and/or user manual needs to be obtained. This latter information will provide the functional and operational behavior and how the hardware and firmware interface to the display module will need to work.

Most of the controller chip data sheets can be obtained off the web via Google searches or from the manufacturer web site.
