Also, you could go to the Keil site & request their free CD, which contains evaluation versions of all their tools, including C51, with the complete documentation set.
Then work through the example projects presented in the Getting Started guide (GS51.pdf).

Note that the CD includes Keil's simulator, so you don't even need target hardware!
