#14346 - RE: where do I buy an intel 8051 chip? |
I wanted to start off controlling simple LEDs, then perhaps a motor. Would using an 8051 be appropriate, assuming I want to advance in the future?
In "real life" an 8051 would be way overkill for just flashing a LED; however, as a 1st step in gaining understanding, it'd be quite good: simple, and actually does something that you can see! Quite a lot of motor control is done with processors these days; even with powerful 32-bit DSPs! (for complex polyphase drives & feedback control systems). Again, a simple forwards/backwards/on/off wouldn't actually warrant an 8051, but could be a good learning excercise |
