If you want to learn "C" con your own, get a PC "C" compiler (a free demo will do fine) and RUN to your nearest bookstore to buy Stephen G. Kochnan "Programming in ANSI C" (hayden books ISBN 0-672-48408-0). When you have reached the end working the examples (use DOS, do not try to run under windows, after all you are an embedded programmer) as you go, then you can tackle the frustrations of every mistake you make resulting in a new download to the microcontroller.
