I'm probably to late, but, an AT89C51IC2 has 1 internal UART (RS232), an SPI interface, and an I2C (TWI) port. I use the SPI port for serial communication. If you send me your email I'll send you a schematic the circuit I use. It has been in use for a number of years and is dependable.
