this Asim Khan guy posted his programmer on mr Witchit's web site the project named ISP V3.7 i believe, it works nicely for at89s5x as well as for the avrs so if you are using Protel's PCB 4.2 i will give you the pcb file i drew up for this programmer, i've made it to fit inside the cover of the parallel plug and used the power from target board and the photo of the construction in my opinion if you want to work with MCUs you need to be able to design circuit board in addition to coding.
