The News section suffered from similar glitches also in the past. For example, I can't see any "new gnu 8051 simulator" under News at the moment. Deleted. It should have never been visible. The problem is that people submit what I would call news "fragments." A one-line statement, maybe with a link, maybe not. The news section is meant to be a little more like press releases. That is to say, a little more "meaty" and informative and hopefully readable. I don't usually have time to take an inadequate submission and polish it so I normally just delete those kinds of submissions. In this case the submission was inadequate but I apparently planned on polishing it later and including it in the public news list--I never got around to it. It was marked as "hidden" (because I hadn't polished yet) but apparently the system displayed it in the list of news items but wouldn't actually let you read it. :) As the Webmaster already announced, the 8052.com site is currently being redesigned. I assume this will also fix the problems with the News, and give them a new life. Absolutely. I'm working on a complete code overhaul of the website and lots of little things like the news problems will be fixed and significantly improved, as will the chips data. And of course the 8052.com search feature. It's an ongoing project. So far I've spent 46 hours on it over the last couple weeks. Primarily multi-tasking: I'm doing the coding while I'm sitting on my stationary bike doing exercise in the basement. I need to get it done before the weather gets nice and I actually go outside to bike and lose those 2 hours/day of development/biking time. I guess I could try to bike outside while coding on a laptop but that sounds a little iffy. :) Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
