#154000 - choosing SBC or eval kit |
hello everyone
I am new to 8052 programming, but not to assembler. Having found a box of old pulled 8031's and EPROMs I felt like putting them together (except two Intel 8751H with gold pins kept as collectibles). After a successful minimal PCB (socketed 8031/EPROM/74LS240 as P1 output buffer, SMD 74ALS573 and 74LS244 as 8-bit input) that was used to test my 8031/8052's from Intel/Signetics/Philips/Siemens/MHS, I started drawing my own SBC to experiment with various memory (SRAM, banked ROM, address decoder with GAL) and I/O, because I did not know about 8052.com's SBC first. Then it seems to lack a prototyping area (Maxim 's DS89C450-K00 eval kit has one). When interfacing other components, is it not too annoying to have to wire ribbon cables from the SBC to a solderless white breadboard ? (those wires and arrays of contacts are perfect for playing with LEDs and buttons but can be seen as capacitors and antennas in the upper part of the spectrum...) . Has anyone made his own SBC/prototyping/learning board too ? |
