No, he has just set you a perfectly normal piece of homework

He wants me to get the RTC to display on the LCD. This is a very common homework assignment. But I just started to work with the 8051 µC. I have no idea how to start this. So the object of the exercise is for you to find out how to do it! Presumably you have some course notes to refer to, a recommended book list, etc? Here are some other introductory & reference materials: http://www.8052.com/faqs.phtml?FAQ=120112 http://www.keil.com/books/8051books.asp http://www.8052.com/books.phtml http://www.8052.com/tutorial.phtml http://www.8052.com/users/jonled/noob.pdf There is an RTC onboard, on the PALCE16V8H-7PC/5 ic.
How can I get it to display on the LCD? Remember, nobody here knows anything about your board apart from what you specifically describe in your post! So, what RTC is on the board? You should start by identifying what RTC it is, and then find its Datasheet. Also look on the manufacturer's website for Application Notes, sample code, etc. And try putting the part number into your favourite internet search engine... |
