#154995 - Compact Flash for a datalogger
I am putting together a datalogger to grab a chunk of data that is 4 bytes wide once every second. A rough estimate of the required storage memory points to ( 4 x 3600 x 24 / 1024 ) = 337.5kb and for a period of a week it will be roughly 2.4 Mb. This data logger will be rigged up on top of a windmill ( 60m from ground level ) and collected data downloaded to the base station through a Zigbee RF link in selected intervals.

OK right now the Zigbee link is just a proposal.( any other easy method of wireless data transfer ?) Otherwise I can always bring down the logger once every week and transfer the data to a PC via serial link.

I have been reading the related threads on Compact Flash ( AT25F2048) but would like to know if there are any latest on this storage stuff. Direct readability by a PC is not a requirement and in any case I don't feel like implementing the PC file requirements.

Looking for some suggestions on the storage methods for such size of data as also any readymade solutions for RF data links for distances upto 100m.

Thanks

Raghu
