whats bad to focus on such microcontrollers, which need no programmer ?

E.g. the Atmels:

AT89S8252 (12kB Flash)
T89C51RD2 (64kB Flash)
T89C51CC01 (32kB Flash, ADC, PWM, CAN)

all these are 8051 derivates.

They can be programmed direct from the PC LPT / COM ports.
