the original 24x buffers which were reissued as 54x buffers with a 'pleasant' pinout.
they work the same, they are equally good, just the later are easier to do the layout for. My guess is that the 24x chips were made by the (then?) most efficient layout of the die and the 54x chips were issued after some technological advance made it possible to route the pins more 'pleasantly' without causing delays or ringing Erik |
