As far as I am aware, the AT89C51 is a standard 8051 chip in a 40 pin DIP package. You should be able to drop in any 8051 with the same pin-out that will run at 24MHz and your particular temperature range. A chip with more memory, wider temperature range, operating frequency should work just fine. The only ones to avoid are those with less than 12 clocks per machine cycle.
You will have to program the chip in an external programmer so you could use a OTP, or a Flash version. Do you have the source code ? Or are you just intending to copy the contents of an existing chip. If you are prepared to re-write for an AVR, then I assume that you have the source code. David. |
