#157606 - 8052 Ethernet |
Dear guys,
I have seen multiple projects and forum messages in the internet describing methods of interfacing old ISA-bus based network cards or their chipsets (commonly the RTL8019 series froim RealTek networks) with eh 8-bit microcontrollers, specifically the 8052, with complete TCP/IP, UDP/IP implementations. While working on such a project, considering the availability of these chips and associated magnetics (i my country - Pakistan), it seems a very viable option to buy network cards off the shelf and use them directly OR de-solder the components from them and use in my projects. The only issue is that the RTL8019 chips were present in old ISA-based cards, while the newer PCI cards use RTL8139 chipsets...which apparently do not have any 8-bit simple access scheme due to PCI logic. I would like to know if anyone has had any success in interfacing these chips (or other PCI chipsets from Intel / 3Com, etc..) with an 8052. Regards... Zeeshan |
