#158469 - SMS Thread Deleted, posible change to rules
For everyone's information, I just deleted a thread that was just a big discussion of SMS. Completely useless and it's now history.

Also, I'm almost done developing a new version of the website that I hope to deploy very soon. I'm seriously considering adding a filter that will attempt to detect and refuse posts that have SMS. I personally hate SMS. I think it shows laziness. I also think it potentially can confuse people who are not native English speakers--though I have also noticed that it seems that the people that most use SMS are those who aren't native English speakers.

Having said that, I'm constantly disappointed at how very intelligent and helpful (in that they DO respond to well-written questions) can't simply IGNORE messages that have SMS in them. Rather than complaining about them and dragging yet another thread off-topic, why can't everyone just ignore these SMS-written questions? Is it that hard to do? I'm sitting here contemplating writing an SMS filter--trying to figure out how to ban messages that have "u" in them without banning messages that have text such as "u += 5" in them--all because some people are too lazy to write in proper English and because other people can't simply bite their tongue and ignore such messages.

I'm not sure which irritates me more--the SMS or the replies that attack the fact that SMS was used.

Can we please just focus on being polite and helping people?

Thanks.
