some ideas about multiplexing
How big is your display, you can not show 5 charachter in an 8*8. Multiplexing is a pain in your largest muscle if your display is not tiny, but you keep refusing to explain how you are going to do anything with an 8*8 This is a good idea for a school project, Erik. A 8x8 matrix can be purchased relatively cheaply (around $7-8 in a local brick-and-mortar electronics shop here), but it naturally forces you to multiplex. Text can be scrolled through it, though. Not easy to read, but may be fun, and certainly educative. JW PS [added later]: an example, but I am sure more could be find quite easily |
