I understand that you have to use 89series, but specifilly not C51. Instead you can use the ISP series 89S51 or S52. the programmer can just be made with minimum components from your junk box and it works. You need not purchase a programmer.
You can convince your demanding person-- (must use....) that 89S51(2) is cheaper and by insisting on C51, you are forced to waste money for a full fledged parallel port High voltage programmer. for a programmer you may see at www.ikalogic.com/isp.php you will find many serial port based programmers, that are simple to implement.
