Thank you Jan for the inputs.
I have tried restart through SRST bit in AUXR1 which as per the data sheet is the same as hardware reset.But the int 1 remains disabled. Only a hard reset /power cycling revives the interrrupt. On repeated checking I see no chance for stack overflow. I have not been able to generate the same failure with LPC762 device with the same software, I intend to check with some more numbers of LPC762 devices after purchase.
