I'm using 1 master that is enabled all the time transmitting data to 7 slaves that are set as receivers only.
the problem is when I put a terminating resistor of 120 Ohms I don't get the data received correctly but when I remove it the communication is ok. What is the problem. I actually tested it with 1 master and 1 slave only so far. I used MAX483 for all master and slaves with the master DE enabled and the slaves RE enabled for I need 1 way communications. Mahmood That means you get reflections with 120 Ohm Resistance .Which indicates the characteristic Impedance of your transmission line is NOT EQUAL to 120 Ohm. A slight impedance mismatch may not be a problem. There is no hard n fast rule to always select a 120 Ohm resistance to get things going.Actually If you have very long cable and are experiencing noise problem withot the[EDIT] proper [/EDIT] Termination resistances you can use one (within reason)and when required .
