Certainly something to look at. I was intending to use a probe technique like that, and it looks elegant. Well Spotted !!

I think the problem in my case is the WHOLE sample is at 1500 C - and measuring tiny variations of temperature up there is rather problematic. State of the art in thermal precision up there is apparently +/- 5 deg C.
