If it is memory mapped a Pointer will work. For an 8051 you'll have to tell the memory type for the pointer too. And with SDCC you do that with the xdata or __xdata keyword. And as David already mentioned it's wise to use the volatile keyword too. Otherwise the compiler might deduce there is no side-effect and remove code. |
