#16705 - RE: Checksum calc \\\'LRC\\\' ? |
This is a bad example. An unsigned sum of characters in a string is usually called a checksum. An exclusive-or of characters in a string is usually called a longitudinal redundancy check (LRC). LRCs are commonly used for short strings. A pervasive example of this is encoding of the magnetic stripe on credit cards (ISO7811).
