#167648 - How many micro's will you use in production Responding to: ???'s previous message |
If you are expecting to use considerable production volume of micro's (from the manufacturer's view). You could advise the local support or the manufacturer that you are considering other options (PIC or AVR etc) because the support is poor.
On the other hand if the you expecting to sell considerable volume then, the manufacturer could assume you will have proper development tools on hand to do the task! Software and Hardware ! From a local supplier and manufacturer's point of view - engineering support is assigned to the highest dollar opportunities 1st.... this doesn't mean a low sale/volume customer doesn't get support... it just means support is usually prioritized and support to lower volume customers is delayed. For some manufacturer's - high dollar opportunities are in the millions of dollars.. The other thing some manufacturers do... is have a community web site for their parts and products... some times it's in house and some times it's 3rd party (AVR freaks, Flashmagic (NXP), Yahoo LPC2000 ARM7 (NXP), ST support forum etc). Do your manufacturers have support forums? Joe |
